AGUA DULCE, CA – This week, ABC News rated George Whitesides’ race against MAGA extremist Mike Garcia as “Lean Democrat” and ranked CA-27 in the top three races that will decide control of the U.S. House.
“Rep. Mike Garcia and the extreme Republican Majority have time and again turned their backs on American families and are responsible for the most unproductive Congress in our nation’s history,” said George Whitesides. “Now, they want to enact a nationwide abortion ban and gut Social Security and Medicare. Voters in our community deserve a leader in Congress who will fight for their best interests and deliver good-faith solutions to their most pressing concerns.”
The ABC News rating comes after Fox News also recently ranked the race as “lean Democrat,” and the New York Times called the race the “heart of the fight for control of the House of Representatives.” Whitesides is leading in recent polls, and he has continuously proven to be a top congressional candidate fundraiser, with the largest cash-on-hand advantage over any incumbent challenger nationwide, double from Rep. Garcia’s fundraising haul. This district is primed to flip as President Biden won by over 12%, and Rep. Mike Garcia only won by 333 votes in 2020.
