George Whitesides Endorses Prop. 47 Reform

Calls for Bolder Efforts To Reduce Crime

AGUA DULCE, CA – George Whitesides, former NASA chief of staff and aerospace businessman, released the below statement supporting the reform of California Prop. 47:

“As a first-time candidate, I listen to a lot of folks throughout the 27th Congressional District. Based on those conversations and my own experience, it’s abundantly clear that we have to get these smash-and-grabs and attacks on our local businesses under control, and do more to keep our communities safe. The Homelessness, Drug Addiction & Theft Reduction ballot measure – which reforms Prop. 47 – should be part of the solution, and I will vote for it this November if it is on the ballot.

I’ve spent my career in the public and private sectors focused on solving problems, and that approach carries over to my commitment to improving public safety. In Congress, I’ll work to increase funding for law enforcement and support efforts to help recruit more deputies and ensure our sheriff’s stations are fully staffed.

Unlike Congressman Mike Garcia, who has repeatedly voted to cut funding for law enforcement, I believe we must always stand with those who keep our neighborhoods safe. By collaborating with local law enforcement agencies and community leaders, we can develop public policy at the federal level that addresses the challenges facing Santa Clarita and the Antelope and San Fernando Valleys to create a safer reality for all our residents.”
